Dancing bodies in the park. By Catherine Talese |
Everyone
has their favorite Prince song. So
members of Public Space Party got together with a few hundred of our closest
friends for a dance party in the streets of New York.
“Public Space Party joins the world in grieving this purple master of polymorphous
faaabulousness. Join us as we go crazy for the artist known as Prince,”
declared the invite.
“Bring your favorite Prince song. We'll dance in the park and other public spaces, take a ride down Prince st., swing by Mulberry (closest we have to purple) and play songs from four decades of Prince music.”

People
were already dancing in Thompkins Square Park when we arrived. A man had brought his own tunes. Black Girls Do Bike had cross listed the
event. The Peace Ride joined us. And everyone shared the
space.
Little
Red Corvette, Darling Nikki, 1999, Pop Life, Kiss, everyone has their favorite
Prince song.
We danced, and sang along from Thompkins Square Park to the Prince Street, up to Sheridan
Square, people joining us as
we shook. Here are a few pictures.
A dance party in the sun. |
There have been and will be other dance parties in the sun with Public Space Party. But yesterday's was special. Thanks to everyone who came.
Join us next Saturday for our Gardens in Danger Ride.

You have shared good information on this dance party and this reminded of our dance party which I arranged by booking one of graceful Los Angeles event venues. It was a lovely party and we all enjoyed this party a lot.
