After getting back from DC, Ken sent me an invitation
for a rally outside the governor’s
office on 3th Ave and 40th, calling for him to support the CCPA.
“Join
Queens Climate Project & Empire State Indivisible for a rally at Governor
Cuomo's office, and a drop-off of over 1,000 letters by concerned New Yorkers
looking to finalize climate legislation this session!
The Climate & Community Protection Act is the most progressive piece of climate legislation in the country. It would commit our state to 100% reduction in emissions economy-wide by 2050, establish strong labor standards for renewable energy projects, and guarantee 40% of mitigation and adaptation funding towards environmental justice, frontline, low-income and climate-vulnerable communities.
We'll have a spirited and brief lunchtime rally, deliver the letters, and encourage Gov. Cuomo to codify his electric-sector commitments and be a climate leader by coming to agreement on strong climate legislation that guarantees funding to climate-impacted communities for a just transition.”

At the rally, a group of activists were already there
calling
for the governor to sign the HALT bill ending solitary
confinement in New York State.
In a warm twist of solidarity, we joined
forces, rallying for the governor to
support healthy environment and community with good schools not jails or solidarity confinement.
Healthy communities need climate protection without solitary confinement.
Healthy communities need climate protection without solitary confinement.
As
Ken points out, “over 400 people came to Albany on June 11th demanding you [Governor Andrew Cuomo ] #passtheccpa this legislative
session.”
The time is now.
No more delay, pass the
CCPA.
“CUOMO lead the USA,
Pass a strong CCPA”
Thanks for inviting me Ken!
Great work Shay
Gabriel O'Reilly!
