On Tuesday November 1st, I met a group
of environmental activists to re-create an
instillation of water flow in grand central station on 42nd
Street. The action was in solidarity
with activists fighting to keep the North Dakota Access Pipeline off their
property. Water is life, oil is
death. Keep it in the soil.
In the invitation activists explained:
On October 27 police in North Dakota
terrorized the water protectors who have been protecting the water and sacred
land from being destroyed by the Dakota Access Pipeline in Standing Rock.
During the chaotic and violent actions from the police they shot an 18 year old
boy, his horse, a child, and arrested violently an elderly woman they were
convinced has a gun, but pictures clearly show she was holding a prayer stick.
In total more than 107 people were arrested in dangerous and brutal ways. Some
people were hit with batons, people were pulled out of their tents by their
underwear, and many were maced.
This is not the first time police have messed with the peaceful protectors. There has already been other incidents.

At Grand Central, activists pointed out that indigenous people have lived
in harmony with the earth for thousands of years. It has only taken 500 years for colonizers to
deplete the resources of the land, and accelerate climate change. It is time to
learn from those who have lived in balance with as opposed to dominating the
environment.
History is made in by those who create it, argued my friend Tibby, watching the demo.
Finishing the speak out, participants marched through midtown.
And they promised to be back. After
activists were arrested at the offices of the US Senator Chuck Schumer, pleading with him to stop the AIM pipeline last
week, the protests over these pipelines have reached a
boiling point. Keep it in the ground,
declare activists.
They posted the following message.
#ProtectTheSacred #NoDAPL #WaterIsLife #IndigenousRising #StopSpectra#StopTheBlackSnake we made a commitment everyday to show up at 6pm to grand
central station to stand with Our Family and Communities in Standing Rock. We
are here to stay. We will never be silent. We still exist. We have always been
here.We are here to tell you, We will not stop. We are Unstoppable and we will
win!!!!!!!!!!
Here are some pictures from Grand Central.
